Getting personal is certainly in Kelsi Davies’ blood as she connects with millions of followers on social media with the content she creates daily; she also delves in deeply within her awesome music releases and “September 10th” is no different. The content creator’s move into music is something new and exciting, with a total of four single releases to date, she’s showing her creativity and her art. “September 10th” has reignited her spark for music and the single acts as the follow-up to her 2021 single “Darker”.

Hailing from Denver, Colorado, Kelsi initially ventured into the world of content creation through YouTube before finding her niche on TikTok, where her distinctive blend of paranormal content, acting skits, and choreography has garnered her an impressive following. Notably, her videos featuring her haunted doll Lola have gained widespread attention. Written by Kelsi along with Jessie Paege, with Comanavago and Jessie Paege producing the track, “September 10th” is an addicting indie-pop ballad that truly allows this singer-songwriter and content creator’s vocals to shine. The accompanying music video is dark and full of intense thriller vibes that contrast incredibly with the song. The video was directed and co-produced by Kyra Gardner, with Raul Aquino also acting as co-producer, whilst Evan Butka acted as director of photography.

Inspired by an eye-opening yet traumatic event that happened on her birthday, “September 10th” sees Kelsi open up entirely to her listeners with plenty of honest and personal lyrics. The event that took place propelled her spiritual journey and led to her leaving negative energy in the past and focusing on positivity and self-empowerment. The track clearly comes from her heart and she impresses to no-end vocally, managing to deliver this indie-pop ballad with so much soulful emotion. The prominent piano chords that follow throughout the backing track only emphasise the lyrics and Kelsi’s awesome vocals, giving her the spotlight throughout. The track is a stunning piece of art and one we are sure will become a fan favourite.

Totally contrasting with the song, whilst keeping to Kelsi’s haunted aesthetic, the video begins as we watch her celebrating her 24th birthday, alone. When she blows the candles out from her cake a black ghostly figure appears opposite her. A water scene follows where she’s drowning, before awakening in the bath with marks all over her. She appears at the sink where we see it is full of dark water and a hand reaches out and grabs her head, forcing her under the water. The drowning scene appears again with dark tendrils and murkiness which is making her fall deeper. She reaches the bottom, but instead of giving up, she swims to the top. We then see a juxtaposition where she’s celebrating her 25th birthday in bright colours with family and friends, full of light and positivity, showcasing that she’s much better off now than she was a year ago.
