Barry McPherson, Williams' agent of fifteen years, was the first to share the news that Williams had passed away in a road accident. He shared:

"He was killed this afternoon. He was making a left or a right [and] a car cut him off. I'm just devastated. He was the nicest guy. He was so talented."

McPherson shared that he was an excellent actor, and everyone who worked with him loved him. The fire chief for Dorset, Vermont, where Williams had his accident, confirmed that Williams was involved at 5 p.m. on June 12, 2023.

What Did Treat Williams' Family Say About His Death?

While William's agent was devastated at his passing, the incident severely affected his wife and children. Williams had been married to his wife, Pam Van Sant, since 1988, when he passed away.

Van Sant and Williams also shared two children, and despite Williams being famous, they lived a relatively private life. Yet Williams would often show his wife and children off on social media.

On Mother's Day this year, Williams posted a photo of himself and Van Sant holding a dog. In the caption, he wished all mothers a Happy Mother's Day. Fans took to the comments section to wish Van Sant a Happy Mother's Day, too.

Williams also posted an ambient photo on May 23 this year, showing his family gathering food, wine, and other small trinkets around an outdoor table. It was dusk, and the outdoor lights were on. Williams captioned the photo: "Home."

In April, Williams shared a photo of one of his children, his daughter, Ellie. Ellie sat with a dog on her lap, and Williams shared that he had been on a lunch date with his daughter and a dog named Nash.

Fans commented on the photo's sweetness and said that Ellie had grown into a beautiful woman. Others could not tear their eyes away from sweet little Nash and said how adorable the pup was.

This is one of many photos he has posted of his daughter. On March 8 this year, Williams shared a photo of himself and his daughter skiing and wished the young woman a Happy Women's Day.

Later in March, Williams shared a photo of his wife, son Gill, and dog Nash. Van Sant and Gill looked into the camera and smiled as Van Sant held Nash and Gill onto the pup's paw. Williams mentioned they missed Ellie and couldn't wait to see her soon.

Williams' Instagram often showed off his family, and they have spoken out since they got the news of his tragic passing. Van Sant and her two children shared a joint statement revealing their feelings.

The statement came shortly after news broke about his death, and the family shared their shock and heartbreak. The statement read:

"Treat was full of love for his family, for his life, and for his craft, and was truly at the top of his game in all of it. It is all so shocking right now, but please know that Treat was dearly and deeply loved and respected by his family and everyone who knew him."

The family then asked that fans allow them privacy as they navigated their grief and confirmed that Williams had loved and appreciated his fans with all his heart. The family asked that fans keep Williams in their prayers.

What Was Williams' Last Post

Williams posted his family on Instagram often, but his last post had nothing to do with his loved ones. Instead, it concerned the peace and tranquility he felt during his final day.
